Good Morning Everyone!
I am not really sure where my blog will take me and you today but, here goes!
There are so many things to write about today. Why does it seem some days I have tons of things to write about and other days, nothing. It needs to average out a bit.
So last night we as a family, minus baby, watched the movie "Home Alone". Wow, I had forgotten how funny that movie is and also, how incredibly disturbing it all is that the parents flew off to Paris without their 8 year old son! Wow, and that house! Wow! Anyway, I would highly recommend you either buy or rent that movie for your children to see.
Our children are ages 8, 6, and 5 and my husband and I haven't heard them belly laugh and really just plain roar with laughter like they did last night. My son thought it was the funniest movie he has ever seen and all of them want us to buy the movie.
I am sure there are a lot of older movies out there that we have all forgotten about that our children would love. This is one of them. I am sort of on a mission to find older movies for the children to enjoy and watch as I think often, they are a bit more entertaining and silly than today's movies.
Some of the other older movies they have watched and really enjoyed have been, "Swiss Family Robinson" which I HIGHLY recommend you rent for your children before going to DisneyWorld so that they understand and enjoy the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. My first 2 children hadn't watched the movie when before they went so, it was just a boring tree house. When we brought our 3rd child to DisneyWorld, she LOVED the tree house because she had seen the movie and she thought it was great.
We have also seen the movie "Chitty-Chitty Bang, Bang" they really liked that movie a lot and laughed a lot. Mary Poppins is another classic they love and I am trying to figure out if the Mary Poppins Opera that is here in the Twin Cities is appropriate for our children's ages because they love the songs from that movie.
I am hoping to find the movies "The Apple Dumpling Gang" and the original "Herbie" movies. I think those movies they would love too. It is fun to watch your children enjoy some of the same movies you loved as a child. I have such fond memories of those movies from when I was younger, I am glad my children will now too.
What other classic movies can we pass on to our children? My husband and I can't wait until the children are a little older to introduce them to John Candy movies, especially "Uncle Buck"!
I would love to hear what your favorite movies were growing up and what older movies you have introduced your children to. I love family movie night. I think it is such a great way to plug in with and laugh with your children.
I loved that after the movie, the children were so wound up and so was daddy that they all wrestled on the floor for about 15 minutes. Wow, that was scary and crazy and as the mom, all I could think about was someone was going to get hurt. No one did although, daddy did a bit by mommy when he held me down and tickled me so hard I couldn't breathe...daddy got his hair pulled very, very, very hard. He says I fight dirty, I say I fight to win. LOL.
Blessings to you all!
